This page consists of an accumulation of education related videos and images I have created in the Michigan State University Masters of Educational Technology program (MAET). These projects incorporate various concepts and theories I have learned while in the program, as well as creative application of technology. I believe these videos and memes demonstrate my knowledge as a teacher, my creative approach to teaching, and my personality. I hope you enjoy.
Learning theories & application
In chapter 2 of "Why Don't Students Like School," Daniel T. Willingham (2009) addresses the question "How can I teach students the skills they need when standardized tests require only facts?" In this video, my team and I cover 3 key ideas in 3 minutes while providing 3 applications to the classroom (3x3x3).

In this 3x3x3, my team and I summarize chapter 6 of "Why Don't Students Like School," (Willingham, D., 2009) and addresses the question "What's the secret to getting students to think like real scientists, mathematicians, and historians?"

Demotivational posters & memes
TeachersThe Teachers demotivational poster created by Renee Jorae, Abby Kuhn, Ashley Crumka, and I stems from the misconception that teachers do their job for summers off and the idea they "get paid well."
|
GiftedThis poster created by Renee Jorae, Abby Kuhn, Ashley Crumka, and I is based on the idea that an overabundance of praise can result in lack of effort from students.

Stop erosion! |
This "Pure Michigan" poster I created shows the irony between the Pure Michigan campaign and the regular construction we Michiganders combat. I typically used this image as an introduction to weathering and erosion (i.e. it is why our roads need to be fixed). As we Michiganders say, "There are two seasons in Michigan, winter and construction."
|
Stop Erosion! is artistic irony representing the concept that erosion cannot be stopped. The idea is to get students to think about it and remember erosion is a continual process.
